Examples of Poor Lead Repairs
These examples illustrate why it is important to use a professional roofing company.
We do a fair amount of work for insurance companies. Before they will authorise repairs they require photographs of the damage. If the damage is due to poor workmanship then the insurance will not cover repairs to the roof or for any water damage inside the property.
Example of Poor Lead Repairs
Here are some examples of poor repairs that we have seen whilst undertaking surveys insurance companies.
The first photo on the right is a lead upstand flashing behind a chimney stack. The lip of the lead flashing isn't big enough, which has caused it to come out of the chase.
The second photo on the right is a valley that has been repaired with bitumen sealent. Bitumen will last between six months and two years. It disguises the cracks and flakes off eventually, which means that when it leaks again the lead and all the slates must be disposed of as well.
